Congratulations to Carmela and Daniel whom were married over the weekend at the beautiful Zonzo Winery of The Yarra Valley, or as many people know it, Train Trak Winery. I have been lucky enough to have been to this fabulous venue before and really enjoyed the atmosphere not to mention the delicious wine and food.
Carmela and Daniel met at the Bendigo Cup in 2009 and in the last couple of years have racked up many milestones and memories with traveling, the proposal and of course becoming first time parents together with the birth of their gorgeous son Harry. “Albeit we have only been together for 3 and 1/2 years it is like we have known each other for a lifetime. Nothing’s impossible” says Carmela.
Daniel proposed to Carmela In their walk in robe! ” I was running late home from work for our walk so I rushed in to get changed, as I turned around he asked me. The original plan was to go back to the restaurant where we had our first date but we had eaten out all weekend and all I wanted to do was stay home on a Wednesday night! We ended up celebrating with Dan’s nan over some fish and chips.”
We started the their wedding day at Crown Towers where the groomsmen were getting ready and then head to visit the Bride, bridesmaids and a special little man Harry, Carmela and Daniels son. Harry whom was a little over 12 months old was on my priority list as understandably Carmela and Daniel wanted some photos of their little family of three on their special day! With today’s amazing technology we were able to instantly sms the images to our phones and send the image to Camella and Daniel throughout the day to share.
From here we got a few great wedding photos at the Victoria Barracks, one of my many favorite locations, especially at this time of the year with the vines all rich in colour. The red from the vines even matched the girls flowers. From here we traveled out to the Yarra Valley to get some location photography before the guests arrived, fortunately they were arriving in several buses so the chance Carmela being seen by all her guests first was small, it was still wet, and because they had not yet been married we had to keep the dress immaculate! Which was challenging at a wet winery! We got some great shots on the train tracks, then it was getting close to the time the guests would be arriving so we headed back up to where the ceremony location was going to be held.
The Catholic church ceremony was held in the barn of the beautiful winery, the perfect choice and mix for Carmela whom grew up on a vineyard. “The Winery reminds me of my upbringing! I grew up on a vineyard in a little town called Goodnight on the Nsw/Vic border. Our wedding combines our love for good Italian food and Wineries!”
The Barn which consisted of two giant doors that were opened up to reveal or almost frame the beautiful and breathtaking view of the Yarra Valley. created the most beautiful backdrop for the occasion. Due to the contrast however, light outside and dark inside I had prior to the bride arriving setup some small off camera flashes to ensure that detail was retained from both outside and inside, along with grabbing a few silhouette photos which worked really well.
After the beautiful ceremony we organised a quick group photo, which is a popular request these days and a wonderful keepsake. The reception followed and was complete with a large open fire which made the room warm and atmospheric, a fabulous touch for a wedding on the first day of winter!
What a beautiful place for a wedding, thank you Carmela and Daniel for sharing your story and for having us be part of your special day!
