Grand Final Day Wedding Photography at Red Hill
Was very happy to be away from the city footy crowds this past Grand Final day and heading down to the beautiful Mornington Peninsula for Wedding Photography at Red Hill. As many of you may remember it was a stormy, cold Grand final day where the Sydney Swans won the Flag and the special day of Jenny and Sam.
I had never met this couple before as all of our correspondence was done over the phone prior to the wedding. I had a really good vibe about her over the phone, so it was nice to meet Jenny for the first time in person. We walked in to the house to meet everyone, it was 3/4 time and all eyes were on the tv if not their ears. Jennys dad is a lifetime Swans Supporter and later mentioned it was the best / proudest day of his life with his daughter about to be married and his beloved Sydney Swans Winning the Grand Final.
The original plan for the ceremony was outside, however the grounds were very wet. We arrived a little earlier to have a look at the location, I had previously been to Still Water at Crittenden, but it was many years ago. It’s a beautiful venue on its own private lake. We always knew that we wouldn’t have much light or time to work with, and that’s why we brought our own lighting. Unfortunately it rained all day, thinking ahead and not wanting to ruin the brides beautiful, white shoes we organised to borrow a pair of gumboots for Jenny to slip on under her dress from the venue. Very practical and stylish… haha! Well the Bridal Magazines, editorials are full of brides with gum boots! haha. I certainly wished I had a pair on myself.
It was nice to see the familiar face of the lovely Janet Hussey, she is a fantastic celebrant whom I’ve worked with many times before. Despite the rain the day was lovely and ran quite smooth. We captured many beautiful photos and moments and it was a pleasure working with such a great couple. Thanks for braving the elements Jen and Sam. It was great to see you again when you came in to receive your photos, I’m so glad you love them and hope that the old wives Tale regarding it raining on your Wedding Day brings good luck is true.
All the Best, Andrew
