I remember the first time I spoke with Astrid on the phone, and without sounding too confident I almost already knew that I would be her wedding photographer. Its great when you have an immediate connection with someone over the phone!
She was refereed to me by one of the band members from a great wedding band Trojan Band. Who I was the photographer at a wedding of Jade & Stewart years ago, it was actually the free style photo booth which I’d done at Jade and Stewarts wedding that they loved the idea of so much.
The preparation happened at The Four Points Sheration on the Waterfront in Geelong. What a beautiful view it was, and as I looked out from the balcony I knew that it was going to be a great day, nice amount of clouds and even a chance of rain (Sorry Astrid, I love shooting in the rain!!)
Will and Astird got married at the cutest little church in Barabool Hills, we got some wonderful shots of the surroundings and sweeping vistas of beautiful farmlands.
Having set up the photoboot earlier at the reception, the guests entertained themselves while we went to various wedding photography locations around Geelong, including a private property which had an abandoned maze and overgrown! We dare not venture too far into it, as they may not have made it to their reception!
We finished off the photo session with some amazing pier shots on Geelongs waterfront, and then were invited to sit down at the table for a feed. It was here that I met a recently engaged couple whom were getting married in New Zealand. Upon further discussion we discovered that we almost went to school together, all those years ago and a very long way away in Hong Kong!! What a seriously small world it is!
It was a great day all round! A fabulous couple, great guests, nice food and wonderful new locations for me to explore. Astrid and Will hope you like the shots as much as I do! Andrew
