A 50’s Wedding fit for a Disney Princess at Monstsalvat!
Pennie and Mark were married on 12th October at the beautiful Eltham Artist Colony Montsalvat. Montsalvat was the perfect venue for this Rockabilly, Disney Princess themed wedding as Rick Amor, renowned Australian artist describes:
“Montsalvat evokes a fantasy of beards, berets, sturdy women, big stews and free love. If the life was less louche than I like to imagine, the place itself is still a wonderful romantic dream. There is nothing else like it in Australia.”
– Rick Amor, renowned Australian artist.
Pennie and Mark described their wedding as an Eclectic mash of everything them! With their love of the 50’s, Disney Princesses the wedding included their beloved little dog in a bridesmaid costume and even an Elvis celebrant. I loved that this wedding was full of so much character, colour and lots of fun, it made the whole day so much more them.
Mark proposed to Pennie whilst holidaying in Vegas. He had arranged a surprise visit to Disneyland and after watching the World Of Colour Light Show he led her to their hotel room that was full of rose petals and a rose petal heart displayed on the bed. As they watched the second light show from their balcony he got down on one knee and proposed. A very special proposal for someone completely in love with all things Disney!
What do you think will be unique about your wedding?
A. Everything and nothing. We’re not a traditional couple and our main intention is to have fun. With a relaxed take on a rockabilly theme at a Victorian gothic venue.
Q. What do you think is unique about you as a couple?
A. I think we’re both realists in the fact that, as a couple, we don’t necessarily feel unique compared to the rest of the world, but we know what we’ve got together works. As such we enable and encourage each other to be ourselves which in turn feeds our happiness together.
Q. What is your favorite music and/or songs that mean the most to you as a couple?
A. Generally Alternative music, but with a lot of everything thrown in.
“Our song” would be Radiohead – Creep.
Also Sigur Ros, The Beatles, Nine Inch Nails and Regina Spektor have been some favorite artists of ours.
Q. What is the most important thing to you about your wedding day?
A. That everyone has fun. Essentially a giant party with all of our friends and family in one place.
Thank-you Pennie and Mark for having us at your special day and for giving us, your guests and our readers a little insight into your relationship and your great loves! Congratulations!
